10 Compelling Reasons To Quit Smoking For Good

If you were hoping for a wake-up call to get you to quit smoking for good, this is it. I have created a listing of the cold hard facts on smoking and the repercussion it can have on your life if you don't quit the habit.

Here are Some Facts to Start Things Off:

-Cigarette smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the USA

-Within USA, cigarette smoking is responsible for around one in five deaths per year, or around 438,000 deaths annually

-Around the World, cigarette usage causes more than 5 million deaths per year

-Current statistics show that cigarette usage will cause over 8 million deaths annually by 2030

There is no question smoking is a killer. On average, those who smoke die 13-14 years earlier than nonsmokers! That translates to 12-14 minutes being stripped from your life with every cigarette! Each and every one of those cigarettes you smoke is bringing you closer and closer to an early death.

A Few Other Reasons to Quit Smoking for Good:

-If you smoke, your body will require more rest than a non-smoker. Also, smokers don't sleep as sound as non-smokers

-A link was discovered between smoking and brain damage/premature senility

-Food doesn't taste as good to smokers. When a smoker's nasal cavity is harmed by the effects of all the chemical compounds held inside cigarettes their ability to savor various tastes and aromas is lessened.

-Smokers find themselves sick more frequently than non-smokers. a smoker misses 7 1/2 work days per year compared to 4 1/2 for a non-smoker

-Smoking makes people more irritable and argumentative, in part due to subconscious knowledge of the prior mentioned points

This is only touching the tip of the ice-berg. There are many more reasons to quit the habit for good. You may realize smoking is not healthy, but it helps to stop and think about these statistics to wake us up to the reality of what we are actually doing to ourselves.
