Some people connect to self-help assets through the people that they grew up with. These connections are very familiar to the person who is seeking help and have earned a significant amount of trust because they are members of the immediate family. Service connected disabilities will connect veteran's to monetary benefits each month and to organizations that provide mobility devices free of charge. The act of giving and sharing within the civilian and military sectors will not go unnoticed because people in the community get involved in helping those who are less fortunate regain a foothold on life.

Many community leaders recognize the community self-help efforts each year. The public interest is keen on any self-help projects that use public funding and many politicians use the success of these programs to increase public interest. The success of each project is critical to the fundraising efforts for future projects and the public is willing to step in at any time to help someone that is making an effort to improve their health or their way of living life.
