Fight the Flab on a Flamenco Holiday

When I think back to my childhood dance lessons, it is not with fondness. Just the sight of a pair of ballet pumps conjures up memories of a dictator in a tutu criticising my pas de bourrée. It was enough to put me off dance classes for the rest of my life. But dance class need not be a chore. In fact, many people are now incorporating dance classes into their vacation and learning a thing or too on their summer holidays.

Flamenco school 'La Fuente' village of Capileira is situated in Southern Spain in a stunning region of the Sierra Nevada Mountains known as ‘Las Alpujarras.’

The school was founded by Isabel Lagrillière, the daughter of internationally renowned Flamenco guitarist Rudi 'El Guiri', who established the first Flamenco school in the area 20 years ago. The lessons are suitable for a broad range of people, ranging from complete beginners, intermediate dancers and those with advanced experience.

And if you think you’ve mastered flamenco dancing and want to try something else, the school offers lessons in Spanish, painting and horse riding.
