Outdoor Heaters and the Challenges of Having Them

By: Kenny F Leichester

We want full comfort in every space in our home. Be it inside or outside, making our home an investment worthy of its price needs our full devotion in providing the financial requirement as well as time and effort. We want to maximize its potential to become a place where we can relax and play.
It is an investment, after all. Rarely is a house bought without some form of upgrade and these will boost the overall value of the house, and unlike, say a car, a house hardly ever depreciate in value unless one is a total buffoon who not only neglects the home he has but trashes it beyond repair. Not many are that reckless.
One can choose to beautify one’s garden. Although it takes a lot of time and effort; a picturesque of patio umbrellas, flower potted plants on decorative vases and maybe a wooden pergola in a strategic spot is enough to melt anyone’s heart, making it worth the wait.
This is also the clear advantage of wood based accessories - teak furniture, for examples - as they lightened up the ambience considerably. The natural shine and color of wood contrasts nicely with the earthen look of a patio garden and there is nothing ostentatious or vain in showing some good taste in decorating your home.
Modest but interesting nonetheless is what is usually associated with this English style décor. Therefore, it is widely adopted around the world.
This look is inspired by the country English homes where it is depicted by an earthy lane from the gate leading to the garden. The garden has some piece of furniture where the place can be utilized as a place to have one’s cup of tea during the warmer season’s afternoon.
An outdoor heater can ultimately turn the dream of using one’s patio during chillier afternoons into reality. The idea of having outdoor heaters to warm up the outdoor area can only be used in places that has colder season. In places that does not require artificial heating; the idea of outdoor heaters might seem overwhelming.
The outdoor heater has been connected to the greenhouse effect and there have been concerns in its wide usage. Although it does contribute to the release of carbon dioxide, it is still very little compared to the effect cars and other culprits.
The key however is a more efficient use of energy. In Japan for example, office goers are directed to wear comfortable open neck clothes and opening of windows to ease the use of air conditioning. It’s the same with light bulb, hence the use of fluorescent lights to save energy and in turn reducing the amount of emission produce each year.
How does this affect your patio heater? Surely, it does not emit that much amount of energy as it comes into play only during the cold weather seasons when homeowners would sometime just want to enjoy brief stint of the outdoors. And some experts agree, stating that the impact of patio heaters is at best very minimal on global warming.
Some belief that one should opt for warmer clothing rather than use outdoor heaters. However, not a lot of people would fancy the idea of sitting outside enjoying the garden donning think layers of clothing. Furthermore, isn’t the idea of being outside during the chillier season is to enjoy the cold wind?
Outdoor heaters might be contributing to global warming but so far, it has helped many home owners to love and nourish their garden. It is probably right to say that with outdoor heating, one will be more in love with nature and can appreciate it more.
